October 2007, Bulgaria

Demetrius Spaneas was the featured soloist and composer at the AmBul Festival of American and Bulgarian Music, as well as a guest lecturer at the American University of Bulgaria. Concerts included solo and collaborative works, ranging from traditional Bulgarian music to cutting edge American technology-based music, including the Bulgarian premiere of Terry Riley’s ‘minimalist manifesto’ In C. 

Serbia, October 2007

Demetrius Spaneas was a guest soloist at the BEMUS festival in Belgrade, Serbia, performing Serbian composer Natasha Bogojevich’s BALAJICA for multi-wind soloist, film, and electronics. He also was a guest lecturer at the University of the Arts in Belgrade. 

October 2007, Greece

Demetrius Spaneas was a guest of the Iannis Xenakis Center for Creative Thought in Athens, Greece, where he lectured and performed and recorded the music of American and Greek composers. 

Uzbekistan, November 2007

Demetrius Spaneas was the featured soloist and composer at the Omnibus Composers Laboratory in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He was also guest lecturer in composition at the Uzbekistan State Conservatory and collaborated with the Omnibus Ensemble and the Ilkhom theater.
